Kambo Retreat: Mexico City

Who:

If you suffer from chronic pain, cancer, autoimmune disease, lyme disease, uncontrollable anger, chronic depression, chronic anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder / PTSD, or any number of mental health issues that are not responding to medication, Kambo may be able to help you.

What:

Kambo, also known as The Jungle Vaccine, is a medicine that Lydian and I have worked with for many years while living in Mexico and studying under a curandera in Guanajuato capital. We offer a Kambo ceremony near Mexico City in Villa del Carbon, (located about 90 minutes from AIFA airport) monthly around the time of the full moon as well as in private ceremonies that we schedule with individuals or couples.

We offer a variety of sacred indigenous medicines at our facility. It is located within walking distance to Villa del Carbon, a small city at high altitude in the mountains northwest of Mexico City. Kambo is one of the most important of these sacred indigenous medicines that we work with here because it helps protect the body from infectious disease, but Kambo also helps people recover from mental health issues including PTSD as well as diseases like cancer and autoimmunity that are associated with toxicity in the body. Often, people do a Kambo ceremony with us right before doing an Ayahuasca ceremony the same night. For depression, Kambo is powerful and it works through multiple mechanisms of action to produce a permanent reduction in mood symptoms.

When participants vomit during a kambo ceremony, they often vomit bile from either the liver or the gallbladder. If the participant has not eaten or had anything to drink for more than 8-12 hours, the bile may be green, yellow, or even sometimes black depending on the nature of the person’s illness. Many people who take Kambo, however, do not vomit though nausea is common.

During a Kambo ceremony in Mexico, you will be given Rápe (a mixture of tobacco and other herbs) to calm you prior to administration of the frog venom. The ceremony takes place over the course of 1-2 hours.

A lot of people who do Kambo in Mexico with us also opt to do a Sananga ceremony. Neither Kambo nor Sananga are psychedelic in their effects and both have initial effects that last for less than 30 minutes. Nonetheless, the combination of a Kambo and Sananga ceremony can produce powerful and lasting changes in a person’s life. Click here to read more about doing a Sanaga ceremony in Mexico with us.

Many people combine Kambo and Ayahuasca as well. They are not given at the same time, but they can be administered within close succession. Kambo is usually administered first to cleanse the liver so that the Ayahuasca experience can be geared less toward the purging of liver toxicities, pathogens, and anger and more toward healing emotions like sadness and fear.
