Intuition, Trust, and Finding Hope in the Age of AI and Dys-Information

As a general rule, Lydian and I try to stay away from politics and stick to the hopeful, healing side of medicine. But we’re both politically aware and we follow the news, albeit with the awareness that my news feed has been generated and uniquely curated for me and that her news feed has been curated for her and for each of us according to our unique triggers to feed us information that generate fear or anger thus keeping our attention as consumers.

I know this about news feeds because my husband John, a web developer, knows this. John is not just a web developer. He’s a veteran in the web industry with experience working for a number of different big companies throughout the years. He has been hired to develop many “split-testing” models to help companies test out theories about what is the most compelling way to present a product or service (or piece of “information” fake or not) to customers. As technology has become more sophisticated, news feeds have also become more sophisticated – and more manipulative. AI has added another layer to the problem of whether The News is “true” and “accurate” or not. If I read the news, I maintain an awareness that what’s written and the way that it is written is meant to grab my attention and keep it. As such, articles need to make me feel one of the three strong and compelling emotions: fear, sadness, or anger.

Like John, in my early years of writing, I was hired by Big Pharma, medical device companies, and by doctors to write about many things in a glowing light. I often disagreed with what I wrote, but had no other way to make a living and support my family. Yet, it was through these experiences in my youth that I learned about the politics of medicine and how rich corporations can buy their customer’s beliefs through the production of propaganda. It was hard to get out of that industry and start my own thing so that I could speak with my own voice and cut the puppet strings off my fingers. But nowadays, AI has made it easy for Big Pharma and other big corporations and political entities to produce copious quantities of content to cover up what they want to cover and to highlight what they wish for people to focus on.

This is the world that we live in and while I know that this little article that I’m writing is unlikely to be seen by the masses, what matters to me is the One Person who reads it. If I were writing to produce a factory-type-of-healing product or service, I would focus on the masses and hedge my bets on content that would sell the most of whatever I want people to buy. But I get bored with mass-production and people who are following the herd. The people who interest me most are the people who have broken away from the herd, or the people who are considering a break from the herd. Those people tend to feel really alone and yet they’ve identified the fact that their survival actually depends on breaking away from the “safety” of group think

Years ago, on a trip to India, John, Lydian, and I got on a bus in Chennai to head back home after a day of visiting temples. The buses in Chennai didn’t run on a regular schedule. Rather, the bus driver would wait until the bus filled up to capacity before leaving. So we took our seats in this relatively empty bus in the sweltering heat at the peak of the afternoon, and waited.

It was a type of heat that’s unique to India – a very desperate and oppressive heat – my state of mind slowly changed from an active state to a more meditative one as I sat there broiling. There was nothing to entertain this oppressive heat out of my conscious awareness. It was ever present as we sat there, second-by-second, sweating profusely. Slowly (so frustratingly slowly), the bus filled up and after a little over an hour of sweating and sighing, we finally jolted forward into the street toward our vacation rental some distance away. By that time though, I had descended into an alpha or theta brainwave state – most people don’t have a word or a label for this state of mind – it is a state of mind that happens when you go deeply inward, but still remain focused on the external environment at the same time. It was essentially a trance state of focused awareness and as the bus careened through the perils of Indian traffic, I wondered how the Indian people could survive and live day-after-day in that kind of heat with the dusty roads and perpetually honking horns. The bus stopped briefly for an old woman in a sari as she crossed the street and it was, in that moment, like I could see or imagine a Universe that existed inside her and all around her. And as the bus pulled away from the crossing, I sensed that each individual in the throngs of Indian people who made their way from here to there in their flip flops with dust on their clothes and on their feet were not just people, but an entire Universe. Each one held the key to some wisdom in that Universe and I felt that my Universe was connected to all of these other Universes around me.

We arrived back at our vacation rental from that bus journey and this experience faded somewhat. I would not revisit the idea of these vast Universes inside of people for many years.

When we moved to Mexico in 2016, just before Trump took office the first time, we had some sense that there was some shift coming that we might not want to be a part of. I can say that now that said shift is self-evident but back in 2016, people thought we were over-reacting and perhaps crazy. In the U.S., we are taught to regard our lives as a linear, sequential experience that never deviates from an orientation to ordinary time. And when a person feels any kind of intuition about anything, the intuition is discounted unless it has some validation in real life and in real time. So we knew we couldn’t appeal to our friends and family in regard to our intuition about the timeliness of leaving the U.S.

Trump’s election was shocking and definitely a wake-up call for us, but we didn’t actually leave the U.S. because he was elected. Back then, the only thing I had studied that could help a person overcome ordinary time and access other dimensions of our human existence in order to sort through our intuition about leaving was hypnotherapy. And so, in October of 2016, John, Lydian, and I did a Life Between Lives hypnotherapy session to try to dig deeper into ourselves to make the decision about whether we should stay or go. We had two successful businesses in the U.S. and we had just finished renovating an old 16,000 square foot school building. We would be taking Lydian out of the U.S. before she finished her GED to get her high school diploma if we moved to Mexico permanently. Our intuition said that we should leave, but everyone around us tried to talk us out of it. Logic was poised against us leaving the U.S.

In my hypnotherapy session, which lasted a marathon 4 hours, I posed the question to myself about leaving or staying. Lydian and John did the same, although Lydian, at age 16, also asked about her future soul mate and whether she would ever fall in love. She saw her future husband’s smile and sensed that she met him in Cambodia (in fact, he is a Myanmar citizen, and Cambodia is a country very close to Myanmar). John and I didn’t know at this time how important Lydian’s question was in regard to our intuition to leave the United States. John’s hypnotherapy session took him through a series of regressions where he was recruited to go to war over and over and again to leave his family, Lydi and me, to fight for causes he didn’t care about, leaving both of us behind. He’d return home and I would be dead or gone and unable to be found. My session was cryptic and the basic message I got was that we could stay in the U.S. and we would probably be “okay” but we would “have a very hard time being happy”.

Shortly after the hypnotherapy session, I woke up one morning with a very clear and strong thought about how, if we stayed in the U.S, we were always going to be on the verge of financial ruin because of the healthcare system. No matter how much money we could make it could never be enough to guarantee that we could afford any kind of major health problem. That revelation was what ultimately pushed us to go ahead and pack our things and move to Mexico permanently.

Shortly after moving to Mexico, John developed melanoma on his face and, had we been in the U.S., we would’ve certainly gotten swept up in surgery, chemo, and radiation therapy for him. At that time, people sometimes didn’t have a choice about chemo, surgery, and radiation therapy. Health and Human Services would remove people from the custody of their family if they were sick to make sure that they followed conventional medicine protocols. As it was though, because we were in Mexico, Lydi and I were able to slow down and stop working for all those Big Pharma clients due to the lower cost of living here and instead focus on our own research and the writing of our 4-volume Cancer Cure Catalog. We were, in fact, in the midst of this project when John developed cancer and though initially, I did take him to a dermatologist for the diagnosis, it would take more than a month for him to see an oncologist. That was lucky. A month of treatment at home using some of the cancer cures that we’d written about in our books was enough to get rid of the tumor that we could see on his face. And after that, we all decided to try every scientifically validated cancer cure that we wrote about in our books over the upcoming two years as an ongoing treatment for John to ensure that his cancer did not return.

At the time of this writing, Myanmar residents have been blacklisted by the second Trump term and even people with green cards are in danger of losing them. When we moved to Mexico, we were able to come and go throughout the COVID pandemic which saved our family as Lydian’s husband, Naing Naing got trapped in Myanmar during COVID. Because Mexico stayed open, we were able to leave Mexico and rendezvous with Naing Naing in Africa during COVID on his escape from Myanmar, saving him from being trapped in a much more serious way after the military coup, which happened in Myanmar two months later we met him in Africa to then negotiate his return to Mexico.

So the prophecy that we would’ve had a hard time being happy in the U.S. if we had stayed turned out to be very true indeed. While everyone in the U.S. and Europe was, for the most part, locked down during the pandemic, in Mexico, there were no lockdowns that we were aware of. We went out daily and walked downtown, rubbing shoulders with all kinds of people. We worked with the curandera in Guanajuato capital and gave kambo preventative treatments to the doctors in the city before any vaccine was available for COVID in conventional medicine.

So as my news feed gets more and more crazy and as I watch the stories up north go farther and farther into the red zone, I know that a person who is inundated with propaganda and terrifying news can still look inward and find the answers that they need in order to heal themselves. Modern humans don’t often look inward, but when they do, some amazing things happen. It’s true that everyone has all of the information that they need inside of themselves and they have access to the cures for all diseases and mental illnesses from nature. There was a time when I would’ve scoffed at such a statement, but living in Mexico has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. For those of you who are up there in the United States or in the UK or the European Union, watching your news feed with concern, I can say that whatever problems you face, health or otherwise, you can find the answers if you look inward.

Now, this is where I start talking about the sacred medicines and how things like Ayahuasca or psilocybin can make it easier to look inward and actually get solid information that’s useful and indeed, practical. Most modern humans, particularly Americans and Europeans have trouble with this idea. After staring outward into the world with terror for so many years, perhaps for a lifetime, to look inward into a vast and open Universe seems terrifying in a way that is completely undefined by any perimeter. There might be scary things inside of yourself and…what if you can’t face them? Most people that we talk to about the sacred medicines are not actually scared of the medicines. They’re scared of themselves. Being scared of yourself should definitely be a syndrome and to stop being scared of yourself ought to be a priority in matters having to do with health and mental health. I imagine that a lot of people reading this probably split hairs in long internal-dialogues about whether they are indeed scared of the medicines or scared of themselves, but the inner argument is just a distraction from the truth about how the sacred medicines can make our lives better. Maybe you’re scared of yourself or maybe you’re scared of the medicines – does it matter whether you’re scared of one thing or the other if the sacred medicines can heal you?

In a world where peer-reviewed science is no longer the standard and politically-reviewed science takes the spotlight, it is going to get harder and harder to find factual information that serves the common-folk. In a world where Medical AI is allowed to hallucinate and make up body parts and doctors choose to or are forced perhaps to rely on these hallucinations, people need to relearn how to access their Inner Universe and intuition in order to solve problems. In a world where my news feed includes propaganda-articles that are curated to prey on whatever scares me most and your news feed includes proganda-articles curated to prey on you and your fears, we can’t rely on other people to know what’s going on. In a world where AI can mimic a specific human voice or a video portrayal of another person, we have to relearn how to feel and intuit what’s real and what’s been faked. We can talk to other people and listen to them, but we have to maintain an awareness that what we currently refer to as data in its rawest forms can be utterly incorrect.

What intuition is and what it can do for people has been lost by most of the populations of the world living in developed societies. Intuition can help us feel whether or not certain information is correct without the need to follow a herd of other people. But in order to know your own intuition and that Inner Universe that is uniquely your own (albeit connected to other people’s Universes) there’s work involved. You have to explore your Inner Universe and you have to also be curious about other people’s Universes that they have inside them. To become curious, you have to release fear, sadness, and anger and generally, that requires some work with the sacred medicines.

Most of our clients are very sick. Most of them are dying. And even after they list off all of the treatments they’ve subjected themselves to and all of the doctors they’ve seen and the influencers they’ve followed or talked to in an effort to cure their disease, they are still resistant to the idea of the sacred medicines when they are first presented with the idea. A common question is, “Is there another way to do this?” In other words, our clients often ask, “Can I continue to avoid mySELF and also confront mySELF without having to submit to a wiser force with trust?” And of course, there are ways to explore and be curious without having to take the sacred medicines. I used hypnotherapy years ago to try to gain access to my intuition, but then I had to trust my hypnotherapist. Not all hypnotherapists are trustworthy. Microdosing protocols with psilocybin or even Ayahuasca gives people the power to dip their toes into the pool without having to jump in all the way, but microdosing does not yield the same results as full doses. In fact, we encourage people to be sure to take more than the threshold dose of a sacred medicine if they have resistance or a fear of the material that they hope to address. It’s important to be able to hear the voice of the mushrooms or the Ayahuasca clearly if you are afraid of it.

Trauma-informed therapies like EMDR, alpha-theta therapy, guided meditation, and brain entrainment can help people get past initial fears that hold them back from working with the sacred medicines. We combine psilocybin microdosing with brain entrainment to alpha-theta states and EMDR for people who can’t yet get themselves to do a full-trip, but who aren’t afraid of a microdose within a therapeutic context.

Ultimately, it’s always easy to see which clients are 100% committed to being healthy again and which ones might be willing to die in order to avoid having to do any kind of self-confrontation to make healing changes in their lives. When a person is ready to heal and be alive, they have no fear about how to protect their lives. This is also true of relationships. If people are 100% committed to making a relationship work, there are no limits to what they’ll do to overcome the challenges they face.

The state of the world today is such that most people have a hard time finding someone they can trust when it comes to health and mental / emotional health issues. But while most people may not be able to find a totally trustworthy doctor or psychologist, psilocybin mushrooms can give you access to your Inner Counselor. Ayahuasca is the Grandmother plant and she can tell you about cures for a disease if you open yourself up and humbly ask her for that information. If you’re in a place in your life where you feel like everyone is letting you down and you can’t seem to find the information, medicines, or support that you really need to heal yourself, it’s time to look more closely at the sacred indigenous medicines. If you’re lonely and you’re looking for your soul mate or of you want to get past major problems in a relationship with someone you’ve already met, then the sacred medicines are arguably a more trustworthy counselor that will help you without having ulterior motives. If you are truly committed to getting past some issue that has plagued you long enough and you’re ready to know how to solve your problems, the sacred medicines are your best bet.

If you have lost touch with your own Inner Universe and your Intuition, then it will be hard to find other people in the world who have contact with their Inner Universe and their Intuition. When we lose touch with ourselves in this way, we feel cosmically disconnected and we can become cosmically disconnected. To connect to people who have not totally lost touch with themselves, you have to first seek yourSELF without fear. Where you find yourSELF is where you find everything else that you need and that you want on planet earth.
