Conventional medicine has little to offer those with severe intestinal worm “infection” or “heavy worm load”. Parasitic nematode in tribal cultures have been, throughout the ages, treated with wild tobacco (Nicotiana rustica), a powerful natural de-wormer that contains nicotine. Historically, before the advent of Big Pharma, nicotine was a well-known de-worming agent that worked so well that Big Pharma found that it lacked profit-potential. Nematodes (intestinal worms) are highly sensitive to tobacco-based nicotine products as nicotine paralyzes intestinal worms, making it impossible for them to remain in the body.
A variety of nicotine-receptor treatments have been produced by Big Pharma to target intestinal worms without successfully overcoming the intestinal worm load. Drugs that work by interacting with the nicotine receptors on intestinal worms include:
- Benzimidazoles
- Levamisole
- Pyrantel pamoate
- Ivermectin

What is ambil?
Ambil is a sacred indigenous medicine that is made using wild tobacco (Nicotiana rustica) and salts that make the tobacco and the nicotine more bioavailable and absorbable in the mucus membranes. A small amount of ambil is placed on a toothpick such that it can be administered to the gum tissues or sublingually. Ambil produces a short “trip” that may involve dizziness, vomiting (rarely, depending on the dose) followed by mental and emotional clarity.
At our facility, we administer ambil in gradually increasing doses so that people can slowly develop a tolerance for some of the more intense effects. But even when the effects are powerful and there’s dizziness or vomiting, they’re generally short-lived and followed by a sense of internal peace that can last for several hours.
Ambil can be swallowed or it can be spit out after it has fully dissolved in the mouth. For those who wish to treat a serious parasite infection, we recommend starting with a low dose and swallowing the ambil paste after it has fully dissolved into the saliva.
Ambil is not just a physical / biological anti-parasitic. It is also an emotional-spiritual antiparasitic medicine that should always be administered with reverence for Tobacco as the first of the plant medicines that works with many of the other sacred indigenous medicines that heal the body, mind, and soul.
Ambil for Parasite Infection
Ambil is an anti-parasitic medicine that is effective against parasites without the risk of developing resistance. It works by hijacking the parasite worm nervous system such that parasites become paralyzed and unable to find refuge inside the body.
Studies on over 200 men in the Congo who tend to have a heavy worm load have shown that when people who are exposed to a lot of parasites use pure tobacco in some way, worm load is significantly reduced. Higher levels of nicotine in the bloodstream was predictive of a lower worm load and reinfection by year 2. People with slower nicotine metabolism (usually younger and older study participants), had lower worm burdens compared to those who were able to metabolize nicotine more quickly.
Note, however, that this study involved people who were using a pure form of tobacco and not commercial cigarettes as commercial cigarettes can deplete the body of glutathione and other detoxifying substances to produce physical weakness conducive to intestinal worm infestation.
Tobacco, when used as an anti-parasitic, can be used to treat liver flukes, schistosomiasis, pinworms, roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and other intestinal worms that have an acetylcholine system that includes nicotinic receptors.
Rapeh / Rápe / Hápe for Parasite Infection
Hápe, also known as Rapeh or Rápe, is another pure tobacco product (it may contain other herbs) that is blown into the nostrils so as to land on the nasal bulbs at an important gallbladder acupuncture point. Rápe is often less intense than ambil, but it depends on the type of Rápe / Hápe and the amount given. Rápe-based nicotine enters the bloodstream via the gallbladder meridian and the nasal bulbs to produce an effect that tends to be less concentrated in the gut.
Ambil and Rápe can be administered at the same time as an antiparasitic medicine in ceremonial settings. A Rapeh ceremony usually lasts about an hour and includes a discussion of guidance or the experience after the initial effects subside.
Tobacco as a Plant Spirit
Though much of the population of the world today that is afflicted with intestinal parasite infection is not inclined to view plants as beings that have spirits, one of the keys to using this medicine and experiencing full healing is to acknowledge the wise Tobacco spirit that has been guiding humanity since the beginning of time. Remember that the Native Americans used tobacco in their peace pipes to promote peaceful discussion. Tribes in the Amazon use Ambil and Rápe in a similar manner. In some tribes in the Amazon, a man is not a man unless he knows how to produce Ambil and he takes the time to produce his Ambil before attempting to interact socially in the world.
We offer Ambil treatments for parasites in Mexico in a ceremonial setting. We also do online Ambil ceremonies to walk people through the proper use of this medicine. Not all Ambil products are the same. When Ambil has not been properly prepared, it is weak and the “trip” doesn’t happen. Be aware that other medicinal effects may also be lacking when the Ambil is weak in this way.
