Ayahuasca for Alcoholism: How and Why It Works

Ayahuasca for Alcohol Addiction

In terms of addiction, Ayahuasca is best put to use for alcoholism or stimulant addiction. There are reasons why people use Ayahuasca for alcohol addiction and stimulants and these reasons are well-supported with scientific research.

Ayahuasca has the ability to heal the pancreas. The pancreas does a number of different things in the body but the two most famous functions are 1) digestion via the production and release of pancreatic enzymes and 2) insulin production and release that makes it possible for cells in the body to absorb and use glucose / sugars for fuel.

Though alcoholism is a devastating mental illness that impacts entire families, in fact, most people who suffer with alcohol addiction are trying to self-medicate to overcome insulin resistance / insensitivity and / or low insulin levels. Click here to learn more about scientific studies into alcoholism and insulin resistance. This physiological problem of insulin resistance is not just a biological problem. Rather, it often originates from some form of trauma wherein the human cells begin to shut down and become dormant (The Cell Danger Response per Dr. Robert Naviaux – see below) This issue of cellular dormancy and insulin resistance due to trauma quickly becomes an issue that causes extreme pain affecting the entire family. Ayahuasca is one of few known medicines that can cure alcoholism by treating trauma as well as by healing the pancreas.

Insulin resistance or insensitivity is just one step away from diabetes, but this problem can also be conceptualized as a low-level form of what Dr. Robert Naviaux, an autism expert, refers to as the “Cell Danger Response”. The Cell Danger Response defines a behavior of human cells that involves shutting down, closing up the cellular doors / membranes, and going into a state of mild to extreme dormancy. Emotional trauma, biological trauma, or even ancestral trauma (which might be conceptualized as a genetically transmitted disease) might all play a role in a cell’s “decision” to close its doors / membranes, and go into a sleepy state of dormancy. The Cell Danger Response might occur in just one organ or in an area of the body or it might happen to the cells throughout the body. An extreme form of the Cell Danger Response is “resignation syndrome” which was first identified in refugee children in Sweden whose families were scheduled to be sent back to extremely violent situations, but any form of trauma (biological, toxicological, emotional, or social) could cause this kind of cellular response. In any case, it seems that many, if not most alcoholics suffer from some form of Cell Danger Response and insulin resistance as a result of trauma.

Ayahuasca can be administered in full doses to produce a psychedelic “trip” to cure alcoholism, but it can also be administered as microdoses (1/8th to 1/20th of a full dose administered daily).

In addition to working with Ayahuasca, those who suffer from alcoholism might also wish to work with certain foods, nutrients, and herbs that help the body overcome alcoholism naturally. Click here to read more about foods, nutrients, and herbs for alcohol addiction.

One of the most incredible things about Ayahuasca that sets it apart from other ways to overcome alcoholism is its ability to work on the unconscious issues that often drive this type of addiction. Not only does Ayahuasca heal the pancreas, but it also heals emotional wounds. Many people need to work with Ayahuasca several times and do several full trips and also microdose with this sacred medicine to stop drinking permanently.

Contact us at info@medicinassagradas.com for information about Ayahuasca retreats in Mexico and also how to work with Ayahuasca at home to treat alcoholism. We offer health coaching through video calls to design treatment plans for those with addiction including diet, herbs, and nutrient supplements as well as other alternative forms of treatment. We can also design a dieta specific to the individual health profile to prepare for Ayahuasca.

If you or a loved one is considering Ayahuasca for alcohol abuse, but they aren’t quite ready to work with this medicine yet, consider Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing / EMDR therapy as an alternative way to release trauma (be sure to have an EMDR practitioner work with you the first time you do it for best results). Click here to do a free EMDR trial. And also try out the DreamLight.app as a guided meditation tool that can be used to create an altered states of consciousness similar to Ayahuasca. The DreamLight.app is not a substitute for Ayahuasca. An Ayahuasca trip takes about 8 hours to complete because many of the thought-loops that cause alcoholism are 6-8 hours long. But the DreamLight.app can be used to help those with addiciton familiarize themselves with trauma-release tools that actually do help. Sometimes people become more open to bigger, more effective forms of trauma-release after they release the traumas that trouble them daily.
