Who We Are

We are a two-generation family of healers led by Jennifer Shipp and Lydian Shipp (a mother-daughter team). Jennifer and Lydian lead the operations at Sana Ranita, but John and Naing Naing also participate in the work at the facility too. Jennifer, Lydian, John, and Naing Naing have all worked intensively with a wide range of sacred medicines. 

Jennifer has a background in conventional medicine and conventional psychology while Lydian has a background in nutrition and homeopathy. Both Jennifer and Lydian have spent the past 15 years traveling to see how people are curing disease and also researching and writing about scientifically proven cures for serious diseases and mental health issues that have been dubbed incurable by conventional medicine and psychology. Today, Jennifer and Lydian offer sacred indigenous medicines in-person, but they also act as trip-sitters online. John and Naing Naing also offer trip-sitting online and support groups specifically for men. Jennifer and Lydian do health coaching online, couples and family therapies, and trauma-informed therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) online. 

Our Philosophy

Jennifer and Lydian are solidly grounded in the scientific research regarding how the sacred medicines work on a biological level, but they have a deep respect for intuition, the “felt sense” and the plant and animal medicines as guides that can expand past the science and sometimes even question the science and scientific results. They work from the core concept that though death is necessary and all of us confront death, diseases and mental illnesses often present themselves in people’s lives and in families to challenge people deeply toward overcoming. The goal, therefore, is not to settle for sickness, disconnection, or a sense of alienation but to continue searching for ways to improve life, experience deeper connections, and amp up joy. Nothing is impossible if we can get past the left-brain logic of limiting beliefs.

While Jennifer and Lydian work with women’s health issues and mental health issues at all life stages as well as men’s health issues and mental health issues, John and Naing Naing offer support services at Sana Ranita as well as male-only services to help men solve some of the problems that they confront in the modern world today. Men and women are different and those differences enhance our lives. Sometimes it’s good to focus on the differences, and sometimes it’s best to focus on similarities in terms of men and women. Work with the sacred medicines allows us to explore the male-female dynamic as well as LGBTQ issues from novel perspectives that are not as limiting as the perspectives offered by society. 

Jennifer and Lydian are sometimes involved in programming men’s groups and events geared at men to ensure a certain level of care, but John and Naing Naing have worked intensively with the sacred medicines as men to overcome their own issues that developed as a result of growing up within a model of toxic masculinity. They moderate men’s groups and they do trip-sitting online with men, as well as offering in-person sacred medicine ceremonies for men only. John and Naing Naing also offer yoga classes for men.

We offer integrative psychotherapy sessions both in person and online. In these sessions, we might draw from any of the above models (or we might avoid models completely). We use a friendly approach that allows us to Zoom In and Zoom Out with our clients. In any case, we tailor our sessions to help clients integrate their experiences according to vocabulary that resonates with their experience during their trip.

At Sana Ranita, we view the body as the mind. In other words, we view the body and whatever pain or illness is in the body as an expression of consciousness. We work with a wide range of medicines (not just the sacred medicines) to help people heal serious illnesses, serious relationship problems, serious addictions, and major mental illness. We also work with people to help them develop their own healing abilities or intuitive abilities through the sacred medicines. 

We work with clients in person at our facility in Mexico as well as online.

At our facility, we have a treatment room, infrared sauna, and a temazcal / sweat lodge. Clients have the option to invite in different practitioners (at an additional cost) to do the following types of therapy or classes in addition to working with the sacred medicines:

Many of our clients need more than one session with one or more sacred medicines to address the issues that trouble them most and get to the core of the trauma to release it permanently. Some clients also benefit from microdosing between sessions. Though we have packages that we offer to our clients, we often end up creating customized packages to meet the needs of our clients and to ensure that we can achieve the best results from their work with us.

Most people begin work with us by either contacting us at info@medicinassagradas.com to schedule a time to visit us in-person at our facility in Mexico or to schedule a time to meet with us online. We recommend that we do an initial meeting either in-person or online to make sure that we all feel comfortable working with each other.
